Pastoral Assistance
In the life of any ministry there are times where a second pair of
hands is priceless. Having pastored a church through the early stages
of formation, severe times of testing, a building program and many
other stretching times of ministry, I know first hand the worth of
a fellow laborer who will share your vision and help bear your burden.
Whether the need be pulpit supply during a sabbatical, pastoral work
during an illness or loss, assistance in implementing a major change
or program in the church, a partner in the development of a new or
struggling work, a fellow worker during a building program or any
other need that may arise, my desire is simply to serve your ministry.
In these situations, my role would be that of one coming in under
the authority and direction of the Senior Pastor to accomplish a specific
task. The time frame and nature of the task would not be open ended
but would have a definite point at which we can all say the job is
done and the time has come to move on. In this ministry I do not seek
to come and instruct the pastor on how to do his job, to usurp the
pastor’s authority, to imply a failure on the part of a pastor in
performing his duties or to take over the church, but simply to be
a companion in the ministry. I would seek to be as iron, sharpening
those I work with and being sharpened by them.
Interim Leadership
Unfortunately, many churches today go through years without
a pastor. Many reasons exist for this, but few of them are good
ones. I would like to come alongside a church that is without a
pastor and seek to bring that church to a place of readiness to
call a pastor. At times much work needs to be done, spiritually,
physically and financially, to be ready for a full time pastor.
This work may be difficult, but it is essential to the future growth
and development of a congregation. My goal would be to help resolve
any problems that may be preventing a church from agreeing upon
a pastor, give direction and assistance to a church in the search
for the right man and provide guidance so that they may be able
to properly provide for a pastor. My goal would be to do everything
possible to allow for the smoothest and quickest possible introduction
of a new pastor. Again, the purpose is not to take over a church
or to become the pastor, but to work with the congregation and leadership
in bringing in God’s shepherd for them.
Revival Meetings
One of the great burdens of my heart is for American Christians.
So many have grown unconcerned, carnal or worldly that true Christianity
is dying. We desperately need God to revive our hearts, and I would
love to encourage your church toward a renewed life in Christ. I
realize that the mighty moving of the Holy Spirit is completely
under the control of God and that no man, meeting or method will
force God into sending revival. However, each Christian must be
living in dependence on the Word and obedience to God. Without this
holiness and humility there will be no revival in American Christianity.
My goal is to clearly and powerfully apply the Word of God to the
hearts and lives of Christians, which, by God’s grace, will both
challenge and convict them.
